Creating Fun Valentine's Day Texts for Your Spouse!

It’s amazing what kind of things you can do when you are not glued to social media! The benefits of living unplugged outweigh anything social media can offer you! Here is just another way of “celebrating” being unplugged!

Valentine’s Day is this Friday! Leading up to this big day, there should be love in the air! That’s what this blog post is about today: how to create a little romance leading up to Valentine’s Day! Let’s get started.

I’ve been married just over 16 years to my spouse. In the beginning of our marriage, the romance was alive and thriving! After a few years, it began to die down a bit. We both had sort of found our groove and settled into the relationship. We both began to feel “comfortable”. Romance didn’t seem to be as active as it once was.

Then one day, I discovered a website called “A Wife Like Me“. This is a GREAT website!! Amanda Davison is the CEO of A Wife Like Me, and she truly has a passion to see marriages thrive! She also offers LIVE videos/interviews on Facebook each Thursday evening, where she interviews other women who may have struggled with their marriages and how they turned things around. Or these women may be counselors, or authors, or a housewife who really wanted to share some things that worked for them!

Amanda’s website has offered some awesome tips and has become part of my regular reading each day. Her website has many different bloggers, not just Amanda; each of whom offers a little something different each time. I encourage you to check out the website, if you haven’t already. You will find tons of helpful information there.

Now, let’s get to the main idea for today’s blog. TEXT MESSAGING YOUR SPOUSE! What are some fun ways you have used text messaging to show your love to your spouse? I know there are tons of fun ways, ideas for topics, date night ideas, etc., on the web; and all of these can be incorporated into your texts.

I use text messaging to remind my husband that I am proud of him, love him, and reminders for other things. But, I also use text messaging to send him fun texts, or even a few texts that are meant for only him; if you know what I mean! Texting is also a great way to share date night ideas. If you run across a great idea for a date night, text the link or idea to your spouse, as a reminder. If your man is like my man, sometimes he isn’t very creative when it comes to date night ideas; but a simple text message is a great way to get him started on planning a great date night!

If you are short on ideas of what to actually say in a text, here are a few ideas. Just make sure that when the text arrives, it is seen by HIS eyes only!! You surely don’t want his boss to be standing near when a “naughty” text comes thru, right!!??

Texts To Send to Your Spouse:

  • You will forever be my always
  • I want to slow dance with you
  • I want to cuddle with you tonight
  • I want to give you a very nice, long massage
  • I am so grateful for you
  • I love waking up in the morning with you
  • I love taking showers with you
  • I want you
  • Let’s get naked tonight
  • I shaved my legs just for you tonight
  • I’m so proud of you
  • You make me so happy
  • I love being your wife
  • Let’s get alone tonight
  • You are an amazing provider for our family
  • I miss you when you are away
  • I don’t have any panties on
  • I’ll be waiting for you tonight

You get the idea! Make it fun. Make it suggestive. Make it adorable! It’s all about spontaneity. How can you get him thinking about YOU while he is away? How can you get him thinking about what’s waiting for him at home? How can you get him thinking about how lucky he is to have a wife like you? You see what I mean?

So, this week, leading up to Valentine’s Day, try a little romance via text messaging. Maybe this year you will experience one of the best Valentine’s Day dates you have ever had!

Until next time, Be Blessed!

DIY: Scented Bath Salts & Bath Bombs

I love scented bath salts! I love how relaxing they can be, and how soft they make my skin feel! You can choose to buy bath salts at the store. OR you can choose to make your own! That’s what today’s blog is all about: How to Make Scented Bath Salts using Essential Oils, and a few other items you may already have in your home! Let’s get started!

The ingredients you will need:

  • Epsom Salt
  • Baking Soda
  • Essential Oil of Your Choice
  • Container to store salts in

Directions:

  • I use an 8 ounce glass container that I purchase at the Dollar Store. You will want one that has a good seal on it, so your salts do not clump up and get hard.
  • Add 2/3 cup of Epsom salt and 2/3 cup of baking soda to the container.
  • Add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to the container. For relaxation, some of the my favorite oils are: lavender, jasmine, rose, and serenity
  • Shake the container until all ingredients are mixed well.
  • Close the container until ready for use.

When you are ready to use the salts, I add about a tablespoon of the salts into my bath water, and then sit back and enjoy!!

Some recommendations for bath salts: You can find these essential oils at: My doTerra Site , where you will find other spa products, too.

Again, just 10 drops of your favorite essential oil into the Epsom salt and baking soda, and you are off to a wonderful world of relaxation! The Epsom salt and essential oil will help relax your body, and the baking soda will help detox the body.

If you click this link, you will find a recipe that will help you create Bath Bombs, too!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to comment below. I look forward to reading your comments.

Until next week, Be Blessed!

6 Signs You May Be Addicted to Social Media

What does it actually mean to be “addicted” to social media? It’s like any other addiction, you feel as if you can’t live without it. It feels like your life-line.

Social media has changed our world! It has given us so many opportunities & advantages that we never had when all we had was a phone. However, there are some downsides to social media, as well.

Today, I want to talk about six signs that you may be addicted to social media. If you see yourself in one of these categories, maybe it’s time to unplug. If you see yourself in two or more of these categories, it is definitely time to unplug, and maybe even think about getting some help. Trust me, I’m not pointing fingers here. I know what it’s like to be addicted to social media.

So, let’s take a look at these six signs:

  • You rarely put your phone down. You find yourself in the middle of a conversation with someone, and then wondering off into “social media land”. You can’t even stay on track with the conversation in front of you because you are too concerned about what is happening with social media; how many people liked your post; how many people loved your post; how many people shared your post, and what everyone else is up to. How many times do you find yourself having to regroup and bring yourself back into the real world conversation that you are having because you’ve wondered off into social media land?
  • You are the first one to comment or like someone else’s post. I’ve had people say to me, “wow, you were really fast on that Facebook post! I barely posted it and you liked it.” I’ve even had my kids call me and ask me if I was okay because I didn’t respond quickly, like I usually do!
  • You find yourself in a rage when the Internet goes out because now you can’t get onto social media. This one says everything, doesn’t it!?
  • Your phone is the first thing you pick up when you wake up in the morning, and you immediately go to your social media account(s). I have been so guilty with this one! Sometimes it’s noon before I realize it, and I realize just how much time I have wasted!!
  • You base your value on the number of likes your post receives. This is a big one! Our value does not come from anything or anyone, but the Lord! If we are looking to anything or anyone else for value, we are looking in all the wrong places. There is nothing in this world that will fill the voids or lack of value in our lives other than Jesus Christ. No matter who you are, where you are from, what your background is like, Jesus is the only One who can truly fill those voids!
  • You compare yourself and your life with others. This one is scary! This one can be so crippling! If someone else makes you feel inferior, or their lifestyle makes you feel as if your life doesn’t matter or isn’t good enough, we need to change the lenses we are looking through. First of all, we need to realize that we are looking into a virtual world. Anybody can make their life look good, or better than it really is.

These are just six signs, guys. There are a lot more! But, like I said above, if you can relate to two or more of these signs, maybe it’s time to unplug, even if it’s just for a little while. We can lose touch with so many real world relationships because of social media. It can interfere with so many areas of our lives. I’ve even heard of people losing their job because they couldn’t stay off of social media!! This can truly be an addiction for some!

Over the next few days, I want to talk about the “why” of these addictions. Why are we addicted to social media? What is missing in our lives that we are only getting from social media? How is social media affecting our personal relationships, or our job? How is it affecting our family time? So many things to look at, and that’s what we are going to dive into these next few days.

Until then, be blessed!

Are You Addicted to Social Media?

Social Media is truly an addiction. I hate to admit it, but it is truly an addiction in my own life. That’s why I’m unplugging. I have to because social media has taken up way too much of my time. I’ve said for almost a year now that I was going to get off of Facebook, and I have come up with every excuse I can imagine not to do it! But, check this out …. tell me it isn’t time to shut it down!

Just over a week ago, I wanted to go in and change my Facebook password. It had been a while, so I figured it was time. I was asked for my current password. I entered what I thought was my password: INCORRECT PASSWORD! So, I entered a 2nd password: INCORRECT PASSWORD! I clicked on “forgot password” and was told by Facebook that I would be sent a reset code. It never came. So I tried again, and unfortunately, again, and that is when I was locked out of my Facebook.

I tried to find a way to confirm that it was ME that was trying to get into my Facebook, and found a way to submit some identification, so they could verify it was me. Beware, Facebook asked for all kinds of different identification. You have to choose which one you submit. With that said, don’t fall for the ones that ask for your driver’s license, birth certificate, or other form of official document. There are other forms of identification that you can choose that you won’t have to submit such personal data; like a piece of mail, or catalog label with your name/address on it. Be Cautious as to what you are putting out there!

Anyway, after over a week now, I am unable to get into my original account. But, thinking this was going to take forever, I decided to open up a new account, and send friend requests to all of the people on my original account. Evidently, Facebook didn’t like that either because in less than 48 hours they locked me out of the new account for suspicious activity! I was given a reset code and had to submit a photograph of myself. But after doing some research online, I have read lots of testimonies from others with this same issue, saying that after several months, they STILL cannot get into their accounts, and they have yet to hear from Facebook!

So, laugh if you will, but I honestly believe that with all of this going on, this is God’s way of saying “I have told you for a year now that you need to get off of social media and spend more time in my word.” Okay Lord, I hear you now. It’s time. I will be obedient.

This blog is about this journey. What will I do with my time that I used to spend on social media? Ohhhhh, there’s alllll kinds of things I can do, and that is what I am going to be blogging about.

So, if you also have an addiction to social media and you are looking for alternatives, stay tuned. Over the next few weeks, we are going to talk about this addiction, why it’s harmful, how it affects you emotionally & spiritually, and what you can do about it. I’m no expert by any means. But, I know the Lord is with me, and He will teach me and show me new things that I can teach you. I can do all things through Him, eh? Let’s do this together!

See you next time when we will talk about 4 ways to identify whether you are addicted to social media! You won’t want to miss this!
